Help with the bass buttons on a piano accordion......?
I own a 12 button piano accordion and I would like to know how to play an E chord because there are only 6 buttons on each row. And, correct me if I'm wrong, but the to row is B flat, F, C, G, D, A base notes, and the buttom row are the major chords. Also, how do you play something like F sharp or minor chords?
The bass layout you've mentioned is correct. You can only play those noted and major chords on the type of accordion you have. Most people just leave out the missing note on the left hand or just play a relative bass note alone (when playing in E minor a G bass note fits in the key). Otherwise you need to upgrade to a 48 or 72 bass accordion to get the notes/chords you want.
Here's a chart that might help -
